Al Fajr and At Tariq went on a trip on Friday 17th November to Kew Gardens on a Topic-based trip which was linked in with this term’s Topic of Rainforests.

The trip started off in Wimbledon Long Stay car-park and the children walked to Wimbledon Underground Station.

Everyone ready to go!

There was a long wait at Earls Court station for our connecting train, so the children had a mini-picnic on the platform!

Y3 and Y4 children having their snack on the platform while waiting for the train!

Walking from Kew Gardens Station to Kew Gardens!

During the children’s workshop, they spent time using the specialist equipment to  investigate the outside temperature and humidity, soil temperature and moisture and light, before comparing those results to inside the Palm House. The children then went exploring inside the Palm House and learnt about the relationship between animals and plants in the Rainforest.

The Y4 children had enough time to explore some of the attractions in Kew Gardens. They visited The Hive, a unique, multi-sensory experience designed to highlight the extraordinary life of bees.

There was also enough time to visit the Treetop Walkway.

Here are some highlights from the rest of the trip:

Year 4s caught sight of a peacock as they were exploring the grounds.

The Year 3s spotted a very desensitised fox who was also exploring.

Lots of walking, as you can see from Ustadah Tasnim’s step monitor!

Date Valley Dads organised a Paint Party on Saturday 14th October to help the school fulfil the tenancy agreement to maintain upkeep of all the rooms in the building. The Reception classrooms had been highlighted as top priority for this event and, as you can tell from the photos, the Reception rooms really did need a lot of attention!

Before painting – Reception walls in need of lots of TLC!

Date Valley Dads had around 10 volunteers who agreed to help out; some coming in the morning and some in the afternoon. The PTFC provided refreshments for the Dads.

The DV Dads hard at work!

After painting had finished – look how shiny the walls look!

Jazakumullah khair to all the dads who gave up part of their weekend to help with the painting.

The PTFC hosted a Coffee Morning on Thursday 5th October 2017 from 9-11am. It was the PTFC’s first event of the academic year and was the 1st opportunity to welcome our new mums to the school and give the chance to meet each other and have a chit chat over tea and cakes. Sister Romina started off with an Islamic reminder on renewing our intentions daily. We also gave some of our entrepreneur mums the chance to showcase their business-ware.

As salaamu alaikum

Dear Parents

Welcome to the Date Valley PTFC!

We are very fortunate at our school to have a PTFC (Parents, Teachers & Friends Committee), that is and has been such an integral part of the school community for many years.

In its time the PTFC has raised thousands of pounds, which have been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our children’s education and the facilities in school. These have included improvements on the playground, educational software and an iPad charging station.

We hope that your children and families will enjoy being part of our lovely school and that you will get involved with the PTFC as much as you are able and help to support all the activities planned to raise much-needed funds for our school! We also raise money through donations, from parents and local businesses, and we hope to provide sponsorship opportunities for businesses soon. We organise the Annual Summer Fete, which continues to grow bigger and better every year.

We also run social well-being events to bring together the school community of parents and friends.  Last year’s events included a One-Dish Lunch for the mums, a Paint Party for the dads and a Book Club, where sisters came together to discuss a book, enjoyed some delicious cakes and brilliant company.

Every year, we recruit class representatives to help us organise our fundraising and social wellbeing events. Having class representatives allows the PTFC, school and parents to liaise in a more effective way. This year, we are looking for two class representatives per class. We are looking for committed sisters who can give their time to help our school. If you would like to put yourself forward for this role, please contact me by email or phone.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Jazak Allah Khair

Bismillahi Rahmanir Raheem
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
Dear Parents, Teacher, Pupils and Friends Date Valley School,

Welcome back to Date Valley School. I hope and pray you have had a relaxing, enjoying summer break. I pray you and your families have had a blessed ten days of Dhul Hijjah and Eid ul Adha, may Allah accept it from you and us – ameen. I also hope everyone is eager and ready for the new year in’shaa Allah.

Over the next few days of the new academic year, your child will be given time to settle into the new classrooms and routines, as well as become familiar with the class teacher and other children in the class.

I have already met your children in the Welcome Assembly on ‘New Beginnings’ where we have shared our feelings of excitement and nervousness, amongst others, as we embark on the new year. Children have been informed of exciting events coming up during the first term including voting and selecting a new school council.

We have discussed school uniform and why it is important for everyone to wear the correct uniform. There will be a uniform check taking place on Wednesday 13th September 2017, so please ensure your child is in the correct uniform and does not have to come home with an infringement slip. Please refer to the uniform policy on the school website.

I am looking forward to teaching your child this year and leading Date Valley School towards betterment and success. I would like to ask for your support in educating and nurturing the whole child and ensuring they reach their true potential in all areas in’shaa Allah.

May Allah accept this from us and guide us to what is pleasing to Him and beneficial for all families and teachers involved with Date Valley School- Ameen
